Following the departure of Isaiah Hartenstein to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the New York Knicks are allegedly looking to sign free-agent power forward Precious Achiuwa to a new contract. According to multiple sources, Precious Achiuwa has had interest from numerous other teams, but he is still keen to return to the Knicks. Achiuwa, who joined the Knicks last season as a backup center and power forward, is being kept an eye on in case he decides to rejoin the squad.
The Knicks denied Achiuwa’s qualifying offer to modify their wage cap or rethink their lineup tactics, although there is still the option of bringing him back to strengthen their starting lineup. Achiuwa, who joined the Knicks in the middle of last season, averaged 7.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 49 games.
Ian Begley believes there’s a good chance Achiuwa will be playing for the Knicks once more.
However, considering the Knicks’ recent spending, including the Mikal Bridges deal, placing Achiuwa on an offer sheet would have pushed New York further over its financial limit.
