The Knicks selected guard Pacome Dadiet, a 6-foot-8 player from France who played professionally in Germany last season, with the No. 25 pick on Wednesday night following their trade back in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Being just eighteen, Dadiet played in 59 games last season for three different European leagues, averaging 6.6 points on 47.3 percent shooting. The Barclays Center audience was unimpressed with Dadiet’s selection, offering only a few jeers and a quiet round of applause.
The Knicks’ most recent gamble on a young French player, Frank Ntilikina, in 2017, didn’t work out.
However, Dadiet won’t feel as much pressure to produce, especially initially. His strength lies on his ability to play defense.
The Washington Wizards received the No. 24 pick that New York had originally had in exchange for the No. 26 and No. 51 picks. Kyshawn George, a forward from the University of Miami whose rights transfer to Washington upon completion of the trade, would be chosen by the Knicks.
The Oklahoma City Thunder received five second-round picks in exchange for the Knicks’ No. 26 pick, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
